Investigación prospectiva
La tecnología microelectrónica ha puesto a disposición de la sociedad una amplia gama de soluciones que han marcado el grado de evolución tecnológica. Sin embargo, esta tecnología, tiene limitaciones que han obstaculizado su desarrollo y han obligado constantemente a buscar nuevas soluciones.
El GTQ ha seguido la estela de las máximas “Más que Moore” (More than Moore - MTM) y “Más allá de CMOS” (Beyond CMOS - bCMOS), para desarrollar tecnologías que amplíen la escala funcional de la innovación con nuevos materiales, procesos y tecnologías, y el desarrollo de nuevos dispositivos. Ambos enfoques derivados de la tecnología de Silicio tratan de mantener el mejor equilibrio entre la funcionalidad y el coste - la base del desarrollo de la tecnología microelectrónica.
La actividad en esta linea es muy variable: la apertura de nuevos campos de estudio/investigación o la satisfacción de las necesidades derivadas de la evolución de las otras líneas.
Actualmente esta actividad se agrupa en:
- Emisores de luz basados en Si: materiales, procesos e integración de dispositivos.
- Tecnologías avanzadas de polímero.
- Fotónica Viva.
Además, el GTQ tiene otras líneas de desarrollo conjunto con otros grupos de investigación como las siguientes:
- Dispositivos interferométricos Bimodales como Biosensores, Prof. L. Lechuga (Nanobiosensores y aplicaciones Bioanalíticas, nanoB2A, CIN2-CSIC, España).
- Integración monolítica de Detectores de UV con circuitos de control CMOS, Prof. M. Aceves (Depto. Electrónica, INAOE, México).
- Guías de onda optomecanicas y dispositivos interferométricos, Dra. L. Carrascosa (Nanobiosensores y aplicaciones Bioanalíticas, nanoB2A, CIN2-CSIC, España).
