Bachelor in Food Science and Technology

Mireia Burdó has a Bachelor degree on Food Science and Technology (2010-2014) by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a Master degree in Advanced Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2014-2015) by the same university. Her scientific career has been linked mainly to food microbiology and the development of diagnostic devices.

Her Master thesis was hold in the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology where she worked on graphene-based sensors for the detection of the gases produced during food spoilage. She has also worked for three years in the lab of a food industry, being in charge of the microbiological analysis and carrying out food spoilage studies.

Currently she is working on the development of a microfluidic device as a predoctoral researcher of the Chemical Transducers Group (IMB-CNM, CSIC). The device aims to meet different applications, like the microbial detection on food matrices or the cytokine detection (being part of the PANBioRA European Project).
