César Fernández Sánchez

El Dr. César Fernández-Sánchez és llicenciat en Química Analítica (1993) i doctor en Química (1999) per la Universitat d'Oviedo (Espanya). Entre 2001 i 2003, va treballar com a becari postdoctoral, obtenint una beca Marie Curie Individual (6è Programa Marc de la UE), a la Universitat de Newcastle (Regne Unit), en el camp de biosensors d'impedància. L’any 2004, es va traslladar a Barcelona i es va unir al Grup de Transductors Químics de l'Institut de Microelectrònica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM (CSIC)), com a investigador Ramón i Cajal. Des del 2009, és Científic Titular (Científic Titular) a l’IMB-CNM. Des del 2013, és el Director del Grup de Transductors Químics a l'IMB-CNM (gtq.imb-cnm.csic.es/en).
Ha treballat activament en el desenvolupament de microsistemes analítics que inclouen dispositius lab-on-a-chip, integrant sensors electroquímics basats en diferents formes de transducció (amperometria, voltamperometria i espectroscòpia d'impedància) i receptors (bio) químics. Les seves activitats investigadores també inclouen la biofuncionalització de substrats i l'aplicació de nanomaterials i materials polimèrics orgànic-inorgànics per al desenvolupament de sensors químics.
Ha participat en 25 projectes (14 coordinats per ell), atorgats pel Govern espanyol, i en 9 projectes de la UE (2 com a PI de la seva institució i 1 com a coordinador) dels programes marc FP7 i H2020. Ha publicat setanta-vuit articles en revistes indexades (índex h: 26; cites: 1845), co-supervisat 8 tesis doctorals (3 més en curs), presentat 106 comunicacions a conferències (10 convidades) i és coautor de 11 patents (2 llicenciades), especialment a l'àrea d'electroquímica analítica i microsistemes per a anàlisi biomèdic i mediambiental.
